This unique rosary honors our dead.

This rare and unique Rosary for the Dead is strung with beautiful bone Ave beads. There are four decades in this rosary which symbolize the 40 hours that Christ spent between the crucifixion and the resurrection. The Pater beads are hand carved beads with flowers which represent a crown of flowers, a spiritual bouquet given to our Blessed Mother. The crucifix called Via Dolorosa (the road Jesus walked with the cross to Golgotha) is handcast in solid bronze from a rare vintage antique piece. It shows Jesus carrying the cross framed by angels, flowers and a heart on the bottom. The rosary center is St. Gertrude hand cast in bronze. The rosary is 19" long and the crucifix is 2". The rosary comes in a muslin pouch.

ROSARY FOR THE DEAD

The De Profundis is said upon the Cross, (those who do not know that psalm may repeat an Our Father and a Hail Mary instead). On the large beads is made acts of faith, hope and charity. On each small bead is said: "Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation." Each decade is concluded with: "Eternal rest grant unto them. etc."

ACTS OF FAITH, HOPE AND CHARITY
"My God, I believe in Thee, because Thou art Truth itself."
"I hope in Thee, because Thou art infinitely good."
"I love Thee with my whole heart and above all things because Thou art infinitely perfect; and I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee."

ETERNAL REST GRANT UPON THEM
V. Eternal rest grant unto him/her, O Lord.
R. And let perpetual light shine upon him/her.
V. May he/she rest in peace.
R. Amen.
V. May his/her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
R. Amen.
(All make the sign of the Cross)
May the love of God and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ bless us and console us and gently wipe every tear from our eyes: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.

DE PROFUNDIS
(Psalm 129 Out of The Depths)

Out of the depths I call to you, Lord;
Lord, hear my cry!
May your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, mark our sins,
Lord, who can stand?
But with you is forgiveness
and so you are revered.
I wait with longing for the Lord,
my soul waits for his word.
My soul looks for the Lord
more than sentinels for daybreak.
More than sentinels for daybreak,
let Israel look for the Lord,
For with the Lord is kindness,
with him is full redemption.
And God will redeem Israel
from all their sins.
